Ground-Breaking Surgeon Brings Uplifting Message To Waco

Dr. Ben Carson's mother noticed that successful people read books. So despite being unable to read herself, she made a young Ben read and write book reports. She couldn't have known that a love of reading would change his life. Dr. Carson knows he is a beneficiary of parental involvement in education. And as the city of Waco makes a push for parental involvement, he knows of success stories when parents are engaged.

Dr. Carson will speak as part of the McLennan Lecture Series at the MCC Conference Center tomorrow night at 7 p.m., admission is free. For KWBU News, I'm Derek Smith.
