17th District Republicans Face RunoffMarch 3, 2010
Bryan Businessman Bill Flores came out ahead of Waco businessman Rob Curnock when the votes were tallied last night, but neither garnered over 50 percent of the vote. They will now face each other in a runoff election to determine who will face incumbent Chet Edwards this November.
Curnock, who ran within 8 points of Edwards in 2008, admitted disappointment that a runoff was forthcoming, but said he believed his background with the voters would help.
Flores, the last candidate to enter the race, was buoyed by his success and said from College Station that his strategy would not change from the primary to the runoff.
Flores took 33 percent of the vote to Curnock's twenty-nine. The runoff election will take place on Tuesday, April 13. For KWBU news, I'm Derek Smith.
