In the last year, the Waco Fire Department has responded to 21 fires that were “suspicious or intentionally set.” And now they’re asking for the public’s help. KWBU’s Carlos Morales has more.

Today the Waco Fire Department announced 2 June arrests were made in connection to 3 of the 21 fires that have occurred in the last year. Fire Chief John Johnston says the majority of those homes affected by the fires were vacant.

“We do know that the majority of those things had been intentionally set and that’s the main thing," Johnston said. "Anytime you have a vacant property it makes you suspicious, how that fire start?” (14)

Johnston adds that the fire department is looking for any tips or leads the public may have in relation to the recent spate of fires.

“The main thing is to be aware of their surroundings and get information to the police soon. ‘Cause who knows, it may be that person that may be connected to the fire," Johnston said.

Johnston adds that both the fire and police departments are continuing to investigate the series of fires in the North Waco .
