If your weekend travel plans have you going through Temple, you may want to find an alternative route.

The northbound and southbound main lanes of Interstate 35 will be closed near mile marker 303 from 8 p.m. Saturday until noon Sunday, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

A contractor will be setting beams for the new Spur 290 Bridge over I-35.

Travelers are encouraged to find alternative routes.

All southbound travelers will be detoured to Loop 363. Northbound travelers will be detoured onto the southbound frontage road at the closure site, but can take Loop 363 around Temple, if preferred.

TX-DOT is also recommending, FM 317 west of I-35 and US 77 east of I-35 as possible alternative routes.

Traffic needing to access the industrial or business district juust west of I-35 and south of N. Loop 363 will use Pegasus Dr to reach the businesses there.
