New Details Emerge in Twin Peaks Shooting

Waco Police Department gives new details in the Twin Peaks shooting Tuesday morning

Information revealed today is shedding light on the events leading up to and after the deadly shootout in Waco this weekend.

According to several reports, preliminary autopsy results show that the 9 killed during Sunday’s biker gang shootout, all died of gunshot wounds. Some were shot in the head, neck or torso. Waco police spokesperson Sergeant Patrick Swanton says police believe the deadly brawl erupted over a parking spot or over someone running over another’s person’s foot.

"I can tell you that it happened very quickly," Swanton says. "Our response was instantaneous once we realized there was trouble. When we got on scene shots were still being fired, shots were fired at our officers and we returned fire."

Swanton estimates between 3 and 4 of the 22 local and state law enforcement agents initially on hand, returned fire during the outbreak. Of the 18 injured, 7 remain in the hospital with “mostly stable, improving” conditions. The 11 released, Swanton says are being questioned and may be arrested. Tuesday morning, Swanton urged a truce between rival factions.

"In the gang world and in the biker world, violence usually condones more violence. Is this over? Most likely not. We would like it to be."

Police say they’ve had difficulty in determining exactly what happened Sunday, mainly due to a lack of cooperation from suspects.
