Today is the last day to register to vote in order to cast your ballot on Election Day next month. Texas – along with 11 other states – have their deadline for registration today.
To become a registered voter, you can head to the local Elections Administration Office at 214 N. 4th street and fill out the form there. But they won’t be extending their hours, so you’ll have until 5 p.m. to get there to register.
In Texas you can’t register to vote online. But you can find the form you would need online. It’s at the Texas Secretary of the State’s website. You’ll need to print it out, and mail it to the McLennan County elections administration office. That address is P.O. Box 2450 Waco, Texas 76703. Your form will need to be postmarked with today’s date.
But if you happen to have a voter registration form lying around, there’s no need to print one out. You will however, still need to fill it out and mail it yourself. Again, make sure it’s postmarked with today’s date.

Come November 8th, those voters who do not have a state approved photo ID will have other options when casting their ballot.
State sanctioned IDs include Texas driver’s licenses, concealed handgun license and U.S. passports. But if you don’t have either of those, or any of the other allowed forms of IDs, voters lacking approved identification can sign an affidavit when they head to vote.
There’s also a list of supporting IDs that can be used. That includes…an original birth certificate, a valid voter registration certificate, or you can present a copy or original of one of the following: a current utility bill, a bank statement, a paycheck, or other government documentation that shows the voter’s name and an address.
Government documents that include a photo must be original and cannot be copies.
