Museum Offers Window Into West History

In the City of West, community members are opening a long-awaited museum that focuses on the history of the town. The idea stretches as far back as 30 years ago, but it wasn’t until 2013 that it gained real momentum when the History of West Museum board and members purchased a location for their Museum.

Texas Has Most Hazardous Chemical Plants In U.S.

After the 2013 fertilizer explosion in West, President Obama issued an executive order to make chemical facilities across the country safer. But since then, little has been done to secure those facilities and according to a Congressional report, Texas has the highest number of hazardous chemical plants in the nation.

Over a Year after Devastating Blast, West ISD Breaks Ground on New Schools

The road to recovery after the devastating fertilizer plant explosion in April of 2013 continues for the city of West. Today West ISD officially broke ground on their new middle and high school campus – two schools destroyed by the deadly blast.

Students Work Summer Jobs For West Recovery

This summer twenty-one college students and recent high school graduates in West got a summer job helping the town recover. Students worked on construction, cleanup, and organized an expanded library for the elementary school. The summer comes to a close this week for the student workers.
