Waco's Crime Rate Declining Over Last 20 Years

Kathleen Tyson

Waco’s crime rate has been on a steady decline since the early 1990s. That’s according to one Baylor student – who has examined long-term trends of violent, property, and index crimes in Waco between 1930 and 2013. According to Kathleen Tyson's research, while Waco crime rates were higher than those of the U.S. and Texas for several decades, they've been steadily declining for the last 20 years. KWBU talks with Tyson about her research and just exactly what she found when comparing Waco with the crime rates of other cities in Texas which she used as control groups.
