It’s Memorial Day weekend so to help sift through all the events coming up, we’ll be talking to Act Locally Waco director Ashley Bean Thornton. But before we discuss this weekend's events, we'll talk to Thornton about the history of the local newsletter and how it got started.

Today Baylor University announced a $2-million gift that would help make the Film and Digital Media program its own standalone department.

The fourth annual Art on Elm Avenue will take place this weekend.  The event is a pop-up art exhibit featuring local artists, music and food. It's also attempting to revitalize East Waco in the process.

The fledgling Comic Con is in its second year and event organizers Aaron Foster and Larry Ostwad  have already learned some valuable lessons, mainly: accessibility is the key to sustaining their convention.

Baylor students participating in a course called the Philanthropy Lab donated $100,000 to local nonprofits today. The class evaluated over 60 nonprofits and distributed the money based on qualities that would help Waco like education, health, culture, civil rights and community development.

Baylor has topped out its new $100 million Business School building at the corner 4th and Bagby—signifying the halfway point in construction. The Paul L. Foster Campus for Business & Innovation will add 41 new classrooms and expand space at the school by 40 percent.

Baylor Crew's 'Head of the Brazos' Regatta Returns

This Saturday the river downtown will stir with boats competing in the Head of the Brazos Regatta. The tournament is hosted by Baylor’s crew team and will stretch from Cameron Park to the Ferrell Center. It’s the first time the competition has happened in nearly ten years.
